Wilfred Taylor Corbishley was Initiated in Temple Lodge, No.33 in 1921. He ran a coal, heating oil and building supply business in Duncan and served on Duncan City Council.

Wilfred Taylor Corbishley came to Duncan circa 1912 and built this house for his family at 1080 Islay Street. City of Duncan records are vague about the actual construction date of this house but since Wilfred Taylor Corbishley came to Duncan about 1912 it was likely built in 1912 or shortly afterwards.

Wilfred Taylor Corbishley‘s obituary says he was an avid gardener and orchardist and maintained gardens and fruit trees on this property. There is no apparent evidence of his gardens and fruit trees on the property today.

See our page on Wilfred Taylor Corbishley. You might also want to see 1087 Islay Street (formerly the home of Charles William O’Neill) across the street from 1080 Islay Street and 1081 Holmes Street (originally the home of Matthias Kirkwood MacMillan) which is directly behind 1080 Islay Street.
