Historic Membership Lists of Vancouver Island Masonic Lodges
The Grand Lodge of British Columbia was formed on 26-27 December 1871 and all Masonic Lodges in British Columbia came under its jurisdiction.
Between the formation of Victoria Lodge No. 783, the first Masonic Lodge in Victoria, in 1858 and the formation of the Grand Lodge of British Columbia all Masonic Lodges in what is now British Columbia had been under the Grand Lodge of England or the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
The Masonic Lodges in what is now British Columbia between 1858 and 1871 under the Grand Lodge of England and the Grand Lodge of Scotland were:
With the formation of the Grand Lodge of British Columbia, Victoria Lodge No. 783, G.R. became Victoria Lodge No. 1, B.C.R. and British Columbia Lodge No. 1187, G.R. became British Columbia Lodge No. 5., B.C.R.
Victoria Lodge No. 1 and British Columbia Lodge No. 5 amalgamated in 1878 to become Victoria-Columbia Lodge No. 1.
